Verbatim introduces MO drive, scanner
Verbatim is shipping model 5200 5.2GB MO drive and media. Designed for high-quality audio and video, post-production and multimedia production applications, the 5200 achieves data transfer rates of up to 10MBps and burst transfer rates of 20MBps at 2,942rpm.
The 5200 is read/write compatible with earlier generation 650MB, 1.3GB, and 2.6GB MO media, and 5.2GB MO media from other suppliers.
Available in internal and external models, the half-height 5200 supports Macintosh, Windows 3.1x, Windows NT, Windows 95, OS/2, Irix, NetWare, and UNIX. Price: $2,000. The drive and media are available through Verbatim`s resellers.
The 8X 5.2GB removable media is available in 512, 1024, or 2048 bytes per sector, which provides double-sided capacity of 4.1GB, 4.8GB, and 5.2GB, respectively. Suggested retail price is $150. www.verbatimcorp.com.
