Aiwa adds 18GB drives to RAID arrays

Aiwa RAID Technology Inc. this month began shipping versions of its RAIDstack arrays with 18GB drives, increasing subsystem capacity to 128GB. RAID Migration software is bundled with all of Aiwa`s RAID units.

Features include a single Fast/Wide SCSI host interface, dual Fast/Wide SCSI drive channels, and 8MB to 32MB of cache. Pricing starts at $14,900 for a 36GB RAID 3 or 5 configuration. The units can also support RAID 0, 1, and 10. An enhancement to its ArrayView remote monitoring and management technology, RAID Migration is designed to help administrators add and configure RAID devices without system downtime.

The technology also features logical array partitions, which allow the capacity of a logical array to be divided into user-defined portions. Each portion is considered an independent device by the host and the operating system. The RAID Migration software is free of charge to customers purchasing Aiwa`s MicroArray III and RAIDStack disk arrays. www.aiwaraid.com.
