Philips Electronics of the Netherlands and Japan?s Mitsumi Electric are collaborating on a new line of optical storage products. Initial product announcements are expected later this year, with volume manufacturing at Mitsumi factories in the first half of 1999. The first products are expected to be next-generation CD-ReWritable (CD-RW) and DVD-ROM drives.
