Quantum unveils DLT libraries, autoloaders
Within days of announcing its intention to acquire ATL Products, Quantum unveiled a new line of DLTtape libraries and autoloaders: the PowerStor L500 library and the L200 autoloader. Both products target UNIX and Windows NT markets.
The L500 is Quantum`s first multiple-drive tape-automation product, incorporating up to three DLT drives. It is available in DLT7000 and DLT4000 configurations. The DLT7000-based library provides 980GB of compressed data in a 1.3 cubic foot form factor, with transfer rates of up to 30MBps (compressed). An optional bar code reader is available.
The L200 is a single-drive system, available with a DLT4000 or DLT7000 drive. The autoloader features eight cartridge slots--six in a removable magazine plus two fixed. Features include a menu-driven backlit operator panel, a roller guide mechanism, field-modifiable firmware, auto-ranging power supply, and an optional bar-code reader.
Prices for both models vary, depending on configuration. The L500 ranges from $10,000 to $29,000; the L2000, from $6,000 to $11,000. www.quantum.com.
