-- i365, which has been primarily known for its software, managed services and software-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings, is adding hardware to its portfolio with today's debut of the EVault Plug-n-Protect appliance, a pre-configured backup and recovery system.
The Plug-n-Protect appliance consists of industry standard hardware and storage, and a pre-installed software suite, including EVault Software, System Restore and Real Time Protection, as well as a choice of agents and plug-ins for different systems and applications.
Valerie Fawzi, i365's senior director of product marketing, says the Plug-n-Protect appliance was designed to be simple to deploy.
"The EVault software is loaded up on a Dell rack-mounted server running Windows, uses Nexsan's SATA RAID storage with Seagate drives, and can be pre-configured for customers for use in DAS or SAN environments," says Fawzi.
The system is available in three models in capacities of 6TB and 12TB and supports 12TB Expansion Packs for a maximum capacity (with the High-Capacity option) of 36TB of SATA storage.
The EVault Plug-n-Protect appliance starts at about $35,000 which, according to Fawzi, represents a 40% savings over purchasing the hardware and software components separately. The system is available from i365 and its partners.
