QLogic expands FAS line

Aimed at RAID and tape devices, QLogic`s FAS368M is an Ultra SCSI controller with 16-bit multimode LVD. The controller is firmware-compatible with the company`s FAS366 and FAS366U. In addition to LVD, it supports 40MBps single-ended Ultra SCSI.

According to company officials, the FAS368M limits interrupts to the CPU via a target block sequence architecture, a split-bus design that supports various CPU and DMA bus configurations. A separate 8-bit microprocessor bus provides access to all internal registers and a 16-bit DMA bus provides a path for DMA transfers through the FIO. Available in a 144-pin thin quad flat package, the FAS368M is priced at $26 each in annual order quantities of 10,000 units.
