Artecon aims for SANs with FC array

Compatible with Windows NT and Solaris, Artecon`s LynxArray 500 RAID subsystem includes dual Fibre Channel loops for an aggregate maximum data transfer rate of 200MBps. The company`s LUN-X software allows assignment of specific RAID sets, or logical unit numbers (LUNs), to individual servers, and the ability to mask non-applicable LUNs to avoid contention problems. The enclosure includes devices for storage area network (SAN) connectivity, including hubs, and Fibre Channel cabling.

Other features of the LynxArray 500 include active/active controllers, each with five drive channels, and a driver-less architecture. An entry-level system consists of seven drives. Pricing for a fully configured SAN-ready system starts at less than $30,000, including a rack-mount RAID system, controllers, hubs, power and cooling systems, HBAs and Fibre Channel cabling.
