Adaptec achieves 64-bit RAID

Shipping to OEMs this month, Adaptec`s AAC-364 is a 64-bit PCI-to-Ultra2 LVD SCSI controller that`s based on a 233MHz Intel StrongARM processor, internal 64-bit data path, and four 64-bit Ultra2 SCSI channels. The controller can support up to 60 disk drives (15 per channel) at sustained rates of 200MBps, or 28,000 I/Os per second.

Designed for host-based RAID implementations, the AAC-364 ships with Adaptec`s Flexible Array Storage Tool (FAST), which allows online capacity expansion and "any-to-any" RAID level migrations. Cache size ranges from 16MB to 128MB, and the controller supports RAID 0, 1, 0/1, and 5 configurations.
