Artecon, Winchester add 36GB drives
Artecon`s LynxArray 500 Fibre Channel disk array is now available with 36GB 7,200rpm drives from IBM. The high-capacity drives provide up to 3TB in a single 72-inch rack, a density of 100GB per cubic foot. Artecon (San Diego, CA) isexpected to incorporate the drives in its LynxNSS network-attached storage systems and LynxArray server-attached subsystems within the next month.
Winchester Systems (Woburn, MA) has also added IBM`s 36GB 3.5-inch disk drives to its FlashDisk OpenRAID family of arrays, which are based on 80MBps Ultra2 SCSI interfaces. In addition, the company supports Ultra2 LVD SCSI interfaces in its FlashDisk family. (See the labs review in this issue for more information on the FlashDisk array.)
