HP announces 14GB Travan drive
At 14GB (native capacity), Hewlett-Packard?s new Colorado tape drive targets the capacity requirements of small-business and mobile computing users, in many cases providing 1:1 back up (hard drive to tape cartridge). Based on Travan technology, the drive is reportedly 40% faster than previous Colorado products. The drive also features HP Media Monitor software, which warns users of media-related problems, and HP Colorado Backup II software, which facilitates installation and configuration and provides one-button backup and recovery. Available next month in internal and external configurations, the drive is tagged from $321.
