Qualstar introduces space-efficient AIT library

With a dense capacity-to-floor ratio, Qualstar?s TLS-412360 tape library packs

up to 46TB of data in less than 23 cubic feet (4-ft high by 2-ft wide). The library, which supports AIT-1 and AIT-2 drives and media, has a throughput of up to 670GB per hour when its 12 drive bays are in use. It also houses up to 360 AIT-1 (91GB compressed) or AIT-2 (130GB compressed) cartridges. A SCSI-2 interface provides connectivity to servers and workstations.

The library also features Qualstar?s lead-screw design and brushless motors and is equipped with a positive-pressure filtered air system to ensure proper cooling and to prevent media contamination. An optional onboard barcode scanner keeps tapes in order.

Built-in emulations ensure broad platform and software support, including most Unix and Windows NT applications and leading backup and software managements programs such as CA Arcserve, IBM ADSM, Seagate Backup Ex, Legato NetWorker, and Veritas NetBackup. Pricing ranges from $7,000 to $100,000, depending on configuration.
