Eastman Kodak rolls out CD-R media

Last month, Eastman Kodak introduced its Kodak CD-R Silver Plus media. The new discs contain a silver alloy that provides the reflectivity of silver to resist diminishing reflectivity, while maintaining the durability of gold to resist corrosion.

The Silver Plus media line comes with the InfoGuard protection layer for scratch and fingerprint resistance, and is compatible with all leading CD-R writers and readers. The media can store up to 650MB (74 minutes of audio) in Mode 1, the equivalent of 450 floppy diskettes or 240,000 8.5" x 11" sheets of paper. Kodak CD-R Silver Plus is priced at less than three cents per megabyte.
