Pioneer announces FlexLibrary

With volume shipments expected in August, Pioneer New Media Technologies announced the DRM-7000 FlexLibrary last month. The optical storage device is designed modularly to facilitate a mix-and-match approach of DVD-R, DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, or CD-R drives and media based on user requirements.

DRM-7000 FlexLibrary can hold up to 720 discs with two drives, 370 discs with 16 drives, or it can be configured to fit a user`s drive-to-disc ratio. Data transfer rates and average random access times vary, depending on the drives and media. Pricing is expected to start at $13,500. www.pioneerusa.com.
