Ultera`s Imager produces multiple backup tapes

Announced last month, Ultera Systems` Imager series of plug-and-play mirroring controllers enable users to make multiple backup tapes simultaneously--with no sacrifice in speed. With one controller, users can mirror data to two drives or autoloaders, running at maximum recording speed. For four or more copies, the devices can be cascaded.

Imager 1 has a burst rate of up to 20MBps over a SCSI-1 or SCSI-2 host channel and records data at up to 10MBps onto two drive or autoloaders. Imager 2 has a sustained data rate of up to 40MBps and supports tape libraries for transparent backup, archiving, and disaster recovery.

Both models can managed on-line via a Windows 95-, 98-, and NT-compatible GUI interface or off-line through a control panel. MSRP starts at $4,050 for an internal half-height 5.25-inch unit. Desktop and rackmount units are available for immediate delivery.
