Ringdale server scales beyond 100,000 CDs

Ringdale Inc., the distribution arm of U.K.-based Network Technology PLC, last month introduced the network-attached Data Storage Server, a CD-based jukebox that scales from 130 to more than 100,000 CDs by linking rackmount units. It includes a built-in NT file server with 36GB of disk cache. Software support includes Ringdale`s Apollo suite of backup and hierarchical storage management (HSM) packages. Unix interoperability is provided via Hummingbird Communications` NFS Maestro. Pricing starts at $48,000.
