Dot Hill tackles SAN management

In its first product announcement, Dot Hill Systems introduced two SAN management software suites: SANpath 2.0 and SANscape 2.0. SANpath 2.0 manages Dot Hill`s SANnet RAID arrays configured in a SAN and provides LUN-masking for resource sharing. SANpath assigns logical unit numbers (LUNs) to servers in a SAN. A filter driver blocks access to non-assigned servers, eliminating contention between data commands.

SANpath maintains clear I/O paths through load balancing for improved reliability. The software supports up to eight attached I/O channels from a single host. The multiple-channel attachment feature provides redundant I/O, so if a hardware component fails, traffic can be re-routed without downtime. SANpath 2.0 is available for Solaris 2.5.1, 2.6, 2.7, Windows NT 4.0, and Linux. www.dothill.com.

SANscape 2.0 is a Java-based administrative suite that centralizes management of networked storage. The suite configures, maintains, and monitors multiple, local, and remote SANnet arrays. SANscape 2.0 is available for Solaris 2.5.1, 2.6, 2.7, and Windows NT 4.0.

Both SANpath 2.0 and SANscape 2.0 are bundled with the purchase of Dot Hill`s SANnet storage systems (formerly Artecon`s LynxArray II). www.dothill.com.
