McData Corp., Clam Associates, and Strategic Research have teamed up to test and create a quality of service metrics for switches operating within a SAN. The SAN Quality of Connection (QoC) principles focus on connection availability, performance degradation, and bandwidth scalability. QoC criteria is broken into classes ranging from Class 1 (failure sensitive, no service guarantees) to Class 5 (failure tolerant, very tight specification limits) to help customer determine the best architecture for their businesses.
