At its user conference last month, Veritas Software announced the opening of its Software SAN Integration Lab (iLAB). iLAB is designed to assist early adopters of SANs reduce implementation problems by pre-testing Veritas software in various configurations. Test results from the lab will be shared with channel partners. Veritas and StorageTek, for example, plan to deliver fully tested enterprise LAN-free backup for SANs, integrating Veritas` NetBackup into LANfree Backup, a feature of StorageTek`s SANaps software. The solution integrates software, storage and networking hardware, consulting services, and maintenance to move backup traffic off a local area network and onto a dedicated, high-speed Fibre Channel SAN.
