-- Disk drive manufacturer Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) plans to expand into external storage, and is acquiring Fabrik Inc., a privately held supplier of personal and professional storage systems. Fabrik's brand names include G-Technology and SimpleTek.

-- Hawaii Pacific Health (HPH) has standardized on Bycast's StorageGRID software to store and protect images in its medical image storage system. StorageGRID virtualization software was used to create a multi-tier storage hierarchy. HPH also deployed Bycast's High Availability Gateway Cluster at five of its facilities.

-- Bell Microproducts has begun distributing Blade Network Technologies' 10GbE RackSwitch systems in North America. Targeted applications include IP SANs, high performance computing (HPC) clusters, IPTV and Web 2.0 applications.

-- Seanodes, the developer of Shared Internal Storage solutions, has joined the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program.  The VMware TAP program helps vendors integrate their products with VMware virtualization software.

-- Iomega, an EMC company, announced that its StorCenter ix2 and Pro ix4-100 desktop NAS products have achieved VMware Ready Certified status. The NAS appliances start at less than $300.

-- Info X has become a distributor of Chelsio Communications' 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) adapters.

-- Reldata and Xyratex announced that Reldata's 9240 iSCSI/NAS storage systems are compatible with the Xyratex F6412E RAID arrays.
