-- Dell and Terascala have introduced the Dell Terascala HPC Storage Solution for Linux clusters. The bundled configuration includes the Lustre file system, Terascala's storage appliances, and Dell's PowerVault MD3000 or MD1000 disk arrays and PowerConnect networking technology.

-- PMC-Sierra announced it has completed the acquisition of the channel storage business from Adaptec. The channel storage business includes Adaptec's RAID storage product line, the Adaptec brand, a global value added reseller (VAR) customer base, board logistics capabilities, and solid-state disk (SSD) cache performance solutions. In accordance with the terms of the transaction announced May 10, 2010, PMC-Sierra paid approximately $34 million in cash for the acquisition and assumed certain liabilities related to the business.

-- ATTO Technology announced the availability of its ExpressSAS 6Gb/s SAS/SATA RAID adapters. The ExpressSAS R60F (16 port internal), R680 (8 port external), R608 (8 port internal), and R644 (4 port external/4 port internal) feature ATTO's RAID stack and incorporate Marvell Technology Group's 88RC9580 RAID-on-Chip (ROC) processor technology. The company claims its work with Marvell has produced significant increases in application performance in media and entertainment and general IT environments.

-- American Megatrends (AMI) announced RAID-RT, the latest addition to its StorTrends iTX network storage software. RAID-RT is a software RAID solution designed to leverage multi-core host processors. By utilizing the increased clock speed and multi-core architecture of current 64-bit server CPUs such as the Intel Xeon processor and the increased L1 and L2 cache sizes of contemporary storage servers, RAID-RT delivers high performance RAID beyond that of traditional RAID solutions, according to the company. RAID-RT also features complete Active/Active clustered RAID logic for shared disks.

-- QStar Technologies has received Certified Technology Partner status from Hitachi Data Systems (HDS). QStar's archiving software runs on most server platforms including; Windows, Linux, UNIX and Mac and provides a CIFS / NFS gateway to the Hitachi Content Platform.
