OTG Software has acquired xVault Inc., an e-mail migration and search software vendor, for approximately $6 million in cash and OTG stock.

Last month, CommVault Systems and Microsoft extended an alliance in hopes of accelerating deployment of CommVault's Galaxy storage management suite in Windows 2000 environments. Microsoft also made a "limited equity investment" in CommVault to help fund the objective.

Fujitsu Siemens recently selected Adaptec's SmartRAID VI Decade controllers to be included in its Intel-based, multi-processor Primergy server line.

ECCS announced plans to equip its Synchronix disk arrays with Seagate Technology's 73GB Cheetah hard drives. The Cheetah drives are available on ECCS' direct-attached and network-attached Synchronix subsystems.

EMC recently entered into several OEM agreements focused around its enterprise storage network strategy. Under one agreement, Ancor Communications will provide its 16-port SANbox Fibre Channel switches to EMC's customers. EMC will market them as the Connectrix DS-16A switches. EMC also signed JNI Corp. for three more years to supply JNI's FibreStar Fibre Channel adapter cards for EMC's Clariion storage systems attached to SBus-based Solaris servers. EMC has also qualified JNI as an authorized supplier of both PCI and SBus host bus adapters (HBAs).

QLogic announced its ISP2200A HBAs are shipping in XIOtech's SAN configurations. XIOtech also designated QLogic a premier provider of Fibre Channel host bus adapters.

Storage Technology Corp. announced the qualification of Cambex's FibreQuik Fibre Channel HBAs to operate with STK's 9840 Fibre Channel tape subsystem. StorageTek also signed a letter of intent to license Overland Data's Variable Rate Randomizer (VR2) technology. VR2 is also expected to be integrated into STK's 9840.

IBM recently selected Exabyte's Mammoth-2 (M2) tape drives as an option in its Netfinity servers. The M2 drives have a 12MBps transfer rate, 60GB of capacity per cartridge, and the ability to back up 43GB in less than an hour (all uncompressed rates).

Philips Optical Storage officials say they will incorporate Adaptec's Easy CD Creator 4.0 and DirectCD software with all of its 400 and 800 series CD-RW drives.

Hewlett-Packard and Connected Corp. last month announced a services reseller agreement. HP will resell Connected's hosted, Internet-based PC recovery, application healing, and migration services to HP's small and medium business customers. In a separate development, HP is now offering Adaptec's SCSI RAID controllers, known as HP FastRAID, as an option in its HP Kayak XU800 workstations.

ATL Products and ATTO Technology announced an OEM agreement under which ATL will include ATTO's FibreBridge products in its tape libraries.

Unisys and Pathlight Technology recently inked an OEM pact. Under the terms of the agreement, Unisys will integrate Pathlight's SAN Gateway appliance; SAN Director management software; and Unisys' virtual private SAN access control technology.

nStor Technologies announced in May that it will incorporate components from Hewlett-Packard, Ancor Communications, and QLogic into its NexStor line of Fibre Channel storage subsystems. nStor will include HP SureStore E SAN Manager LUN Management software, which enables SAN storage access management and monitoring from a single console. Ancor is providing its 8-port and 16-port SANbox Fibre Channel switches and 64-port and 128-port directors. nStor arrays will also include Qlogic's QLA2200 series HBAs. On the service and maintenance side, nStor has contracted with Anacomp to provide services for its storage devices. Anacomp's field service business has more than 150 service locations in North America.

Xdrive.com, a provider of Web-based storage services, received another round of financing totally $45 million. Investors included AOL, EMC and Veritas Software.

Chaparral Network Storage announced a European OEM contract with Xyratex that includes Chaparral external RAID controllers being integrated into Xyratex's Salient line of storage systems. Under the agreement, Xyratex will use Chaparral's G5312 (Ultra2-to-Ultra2 SCSI) and G7313 (Fibre Channel-to-Ultra2 SCSI) external RAID controllers.
