--IBM is integrating Adaptec's RAID Storage Processor (RSP) technology into IBM's BladeCenter S, creating the industry's first fully redundant, shared blade storage system, according to company claims.
--3PAR has established a new channel partnership with storage systems integrator Databasement. Databasement delivers replication and restoration products to medium-sized and large organizations across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain.
--Index Engines has an alliance with Quantum, which combines Index Engines' indexing technology with Quantum's tape automation products to allow the exploration of backup and archive data for legal discovery.
--Ocarina Networks has expanded its ECO System storage optimization products to include file type support for the media and entertainment, oil, and gas, and medical imaging industries. Previously aimed at photo sharing Websites, the technology delivers up to a 10:1 reduction in the data footprint of files such as photos, video, and PDFs.
--ProStor Systems announced a software update and nearly 70% capacity increase of its ProStor InfiniVault data-preservation systems. The system is now available with higher-capacity 500GB removable disk cartridges, expanding its online capacity to 50TB from 32TB of uncompressed data. 
--QStar Technologies has opened a new office in Tokyo, Japan. The office will provide sales, professional services, and support to the Asia-Pacific region and Japan.
--DataCore Software and Parallels, a provider of virtualization and automation software, have an alliance to provide mutual customers with an enhanced "complete virtualization" (server virtualization + storage virtualization) user experience, and to facilitate cross-qualification of their respective products.
--SiliconSystems has become a member of the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) and is a founding member in the Solid-State Storage Initiative (SSSI) launched last month by the association.
