-- VMware has announced plans to expand its strategic relationship with Hewlett-Packard (HP) to include the joint development of management software for both physical and virtual resources. As a first step in the companies' expanded relationship, VMware plans to integrate HP's Business Technology Optimization (BTO) software with VMware vCenter Lab Manager, which provides self-service access to a library of pre-configured virtualized application environments.

-- CommVault is teaming up with CaseCentral to offer a new eDiscovery system. Using CommVault's Simpana Archive and Search software, customers can index, search and retrieve electronically stored information as part of the eDiscovery process while preserving the information using a legal hold archive. Data can then be analyzed, reviewed and produced in CaseCentral's on-demand eDiscovery review platform.

-- IP SAN supplier StoneFly is now offering high-capacity SAS expansion for all four of its S-Class models in its Integrated Storage Concentrator (ISC) line of IP SANs. The new S-Class ISC systems are being offered in addition to the existing SATA-only ISC models that StoneFly has been providing for several years. In addition, StoneFly has announced new pricing for the ISC S-Class models. SATA configurations start at $8,400, while SAS configurations start at $10,100.

-- Pillar Data Systems has announced Windows Server certification and application compatibility with Microsoft's Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V, Microsoft's virtual server operating system with built-in, hypervisor-based virtualization. The Pillar Axiom Storage System and Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V work together to run multiple operating systems in parallel on a single server.

-- Microsoft has approved Neverfail's continuous availability and disaster recovery software as part of its SQL Server Always On program. The certification applies specifically to Neverfail for SQL Server software, which combines database replication, monitoring and failover/failback.

-- STORServer has upgraded its Agent for VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB) to include a new license server and online help system. The agent provides centralized management, reporting and scheduling of virtual machine backups. Pricing starts at $1,598 and is based on the number of virtual machines under management.

-- Reldata announced five new additions to its VAR channel lineup: Capstone Technology Solutions, Condor Storage, DASDI, infoStructure and VarData. The VARs will distribute Reldata's virtualized storage platforms, which provide unified iSCSI SAN, NAS and WAN replication functionality.

-- JMR Electronics is partnering with white box manufacturer Source Code, which will resell JMR's BlueStor PeSAN products. BlueStor PeSAN is based on the PCIe bus as a storage interconnect.
