DataCore Incorporates Emulex 8Gb/s Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters into High-Performance Storage Virtualization Solutions-Emulex and DataCore Collaborate to Speed up SANs and Simplify Storage Network Configurations in Large Scale Virtualized Environments

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Aug 28, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- DataCore Software, the leading provider of storage virtualization software, today announced that it has integrated the latest generation of Emulex high speed 8Gb/s Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) into its SANmelody(TM) and SANsymphony(TM) products. These new HBAs offer twice the performance of today's leading products, providing the I/O scalability necessary to handle growing numbers of simultaneous applications hosted on virtualized servers. Additionally, Emulex LightPulse(R) LPe12000 and LPe12002 8Gb/s HBAs provide the increased I/O processing speed and throughput needed by large business-critical databases and transaction processing applications. Emulex 2Gb/s and 4Gb/s HBAs have been previously qualified for use with DataCore's solutions.

"Not only do Emulex's 8Gb/s HBAs run twice as fast as the previous generation, they provide more effective CPU utilization and deliver features that streamline the deployment and simplify the management of Fibre Channel HBAs within the data center," points out Scott McIntyre, vice president of product marketing, Emulex. Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) is a leading supplier of storage networking host bus adapters. "Moreover, by working closely with DataCore and maintaining backward compatibility with our existing 4Gb/s and 2Gb/s HBA product lines, we ensure that VARs, system integrators and OEMs will be able to seamlessly transition to next-generation 8Gb/s Fibre Channel connectivity solutions."

DataCore and Emulex have a long history together. In 2003, DataCore developed a dual-mode HBA driver solution that enabled both host and target connectivity support for Emulex HBAs embedded in the DataCore SANsymphony virtualization solution. Now, Emulex 8Gb/s HBAs are fully DataCore Lab-Tested for deployment in SAN environments with DataCore's software, thereby reinforcing Emulex's best-in-class technology. DataCore leverages Emulex's unique Service Level Interface (SLI) technology, which enables driver compatibility across all generations of Emulex HBAs.

"Sure, the speed and throughput from these HBAs is phenomenal, but so is the distinctive Emulex HBA dual-mode driver that lets our partners set the adapters to concurrently operate as both target and initiator. This maximizes port utilization, cuts down on cabling and gives them much more flexibility to configure their customers' environments to accommodate unexpected changes," added John Bocskor, vice president of product development, DataCore Software.
