ExaGrid Systems Announces Support for Vizioncore vRanger Pro-New ExaGrid Functionality Streamlines Backup for VMware Environments

WESTBOROUGH, Mass., Aug 28, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ExaGrid Systems, Inc. (http://www.exagrid.com), the leader in cost-effective and scalable disk-based backup solutions with data de-duplication, today announced support for Vizioncore's industry-leading backup and recovery solution, vRanger Pro. Both ExaGrid and Vizioncore offer products and solutions that streamline the management of data backup and recovery processes for VMware users.

Vizioncore is a leading provider of a comprehensive set of solutions that extend and enhance the capabilities of virtualized environments. More than 12,000 customers globally use Vizioncore's products for backup and recovery, P2V/V2V, monitoring and optimization of their virtual servers. ExaGrid offers VMware customers using Vizioncore's vRanger Pro with the industry's fastest backups and restores, along with tremendously high data de-duplication ratios (up to many 1,000s to 1).

"The combination of ExaGrid and Vizioncore vRanger Pro products offers an easy-to-use backup solution to VMware users," said Marc Crespi, VP of Product Management for ExaGrid Systems, Inc. "Vizioncore's thousands of customers can now gain greater value from their investment in virtualization technologies by leveraging the benefits of ExaGrid's high-performance, scalable Disk-based Backup System with data de-duplication."

"We are very pleased that ExaGrid has provided support for our vRanger Pro solution, giving customers an additional option to streamline and speed up the backup process," said George Pradel, Director of Strategic Alliances for Vizioncore Inc. "We believe that de-duplication is an essential strategy that creates critical efficiencies needed by anyone running virtual machines today."

Vizioncore's vRanger Pro solution offers full image level and differential backups of virtual machines to enable faster, more efficient storage and recovery of virtual machines. ExaGrid's Disk-based Backup systems serve as the backup target for these virtual machine images, using high-performance, post-process data de-duplication to dramatically reduce the disk storage capacity required for backups versus standard disk storage.

ExaGrid's support for Vizioncore vRanger Pro is scheduled to ship within the next 30 days.

About ExaGrid's Technology:

The ExaGrid system is a turnkey, plug-and-play solution that works with existing backup applications and enables faster and more reliable backups and restores. Customers report that backup time is reduced by 30 to 90 percent over traditional tape backup. ExaGrid's patented byte-level data de-duplication technology and most recent backup compression, coupled with high-quality SATA storage, reduces the amount of disk space needed by a range of 10:1 to as high as 50:1, or more, resulting in a price that's often less than traditional tape-based backup.

About ExaGrid Systems, Inc:

Headquartered in Westborough, Massachusetts, ExaGrid is the leader in cost-effective and scalable disk-based backup solutions with byte-level data de-duplication. A highly scalable system that works with existing backup applications, the ExaGrid system is ideal for companies looking to quickly eliminate the hassles of tape backup while reducing their existing backup windows. ExaGrid's patented approach minimizes the amount of data to be stored by providing standard data compression for the most recent backups along with byte-level data de-duplication technology for all previous backups. Customers can deploy the ExaGrid system at a primary site and at secondary sites to supplement or eliminate offsite tapes with live data repositories or for disaster recovery.
