Scalable NAS: Insights from customers, analysts and HP
When IT administrators are looking for networked storage solutions, they often look to NAS. Unfortunately, traditional NAS doesn't scale and administrators often find themselves having to add NAS platforms to keep up with growing storage demands. As a result, many administrators have started looking for alternative solutions. According to Illuminata's recently conducted customer study, HP's next-generation Scalable NAS offers advantages over traditional NAS architectures including massive scalability, inherent availability, high performance and ease of management. This white paper explores relevant user experiences and common themes gathered from customer interviews.

HP Scalable NAS for Digital Media Content Streaming-Reference Architecture
The advancement of the Internet and its capabilities has had a major impact on enterprises. The new Web 2.0 business model, where the data is the business, utilizes the Internet to disseminate information in many different ways. Streaming media files -- video clips, music videos, audio, and live broadcast streams -- are being delivered faster and in greater volume than ever.
The efficiency with which content is stored and the speed at which stored content is delivered to end-users are imperative to successfully deploying streaming media. Learn how HP's next generation of Scalable NAS enables companies to host media applications and distribute the content seamlessly with scalable performance and inherent high availability.
This paper presents the architecture to deliver superior performance for streaming media and also discusses best practices for deploying HP scalable NAS.

Scalable, Fault-Tolerant NAS for Oracle: The Next Generation
For several years NAS has been evolving as a storage alternative for Oracle databases, and for good reason: NAS is quite often the simplest, most cost-effective storage approach for Oracle.
This evolution is driven in part by the emergence of scalable NAS technologies. Scalable NAS improves on traditional NAS in its ability to scale capacity and performance well beyond the limits of a single filer and provide the cost effective, built-in high availability required for enterprise Oracle environments. This step, along with the release of Direct NFS from Oracle and the simplicity of NAS, is ushering in a massive increase in the adoption of NAS for Oracle.
Learn about the benefits of HP's clustered NAS solutions in a comprehensive white paper. The benefits include improvements in scalability, availability, simplicity and standards.

Consolidation for an Optimized Storage Environment
In many organizations Windows file services are spread among a series of servers. These servers often originate from different vendors with diverse maintenance requirements and result in server sprawl - a storage landscape cluttered with various NAS servers. Server sprawl presents numerous challenges for IT organizations in terms of management, cost and performance.
With file-based data growing at an exponential rate as richer file types and storage requirements continue to increase, stress is placed on already fatigued storage environments.
This white paper explores consolidation as a solution for better utilization and management of storage infrastructures. Learn how consolidation can reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) by reducing overall hardware and administrative time.
Download this white paper and learn how HP StorageWorks' Enterprise Virtual Array File Services (EVA File Services) approach to consolidation offers the scalability, high availability and ease of management many organizations demand from their storage infrastructure.

Securing Networked Storage
This document provides an overview of security threats in a Network Attached Storage environment and countermeasures offered by Decru DataFort® storage security appliances. NEXT PARA PLEASE: In today's world, there are multiple copies of data stored in many different places for backup, disaster recovery, consolidation, and outsourcing. Securing all the copies of data can be a challenge for any organization. Decru's appliance-based storage security solutions encrypt data at the source, thus, automatically securing all copies of the data. Since Decru's products provide encryption with authentication - who you are; authorization - what you are allowed to do; and accountability - who did what; the access to confidential data is limited to a few devices and individuals. In this way, achieving overall system security is greatly simplified by having to secure the data rather than the perimeter. NEXT PARA PLRASE: The Decru DataFort appliance is the only hardware-based encryption system in the market that is employable in both block (disk and tape) and file environments.
