Data for the chart below came from the results of a survey of 146 IT professionals, conducted by IT Brand Pulse as part of its ongoing series of Leader Surveys. This survey focused on end users’ perceptions of leaders in the storage virtualization space, and in addition to asking IT pros about who the market and innovation leaders were (see below), the survey queried users about price, performance, reliability, and service leaders.
“Unlike the survey results for networking, Fibre Channel switches, and 10GbE adapters, where a single vendor was selected as the leader in every category, a dominant brand has not yet emerged for storage virtualization,” notes Frank Berry, IT Brand Pulse CEO.
However, EMC and NetApp dominated in most categories of the storage virtualization leader survey. It’s also interesting to note how high VMware placed in the survey; the company came in third or fourth in all but one of the categories. In addition, it’s interesting to note that as in every survey conducted by IT Brand Pulse that included the company, Dell was selected as the price leader.
