Fuji extends storage media lineup
Fuji Photo Film U.S.A. recently expanded its storage media product line with Zip disks, DLT tape cartridges, DDS3 DAT cartridges, CD-Recordable optical discs, and magneto-optical media. The 100MB Zip disk is based on the company`s ATOMM (Advanced super Thin layer and high Output Metal Media) technology and is priced at $19.95.
Fuji is now shipping DLTtape III (10GB uncompressed) and DLTtape IV (20GB or 35GB uncompressed). DLTtape III works with Quantum`s DLT 2000 or 2000XT drives; the DLTtape IV cartridges are compatible with Quantum`s DLT 4000 and 7000 drives. Both cartridges were formerly called CompacTape.
Fuji`s Fujifilm DDS3 tape cartridges are compatible with digital audio tape (DAT) drives and store up to 12GB (24GB compressed).
The company`s CD-Recordable (CD-R) optical discs store 650MB at $6.99 per disc. Fuji`s magneto-optical (MO) discs come in 2.6GB, 5.25-inch formats or 3.5-inch 640MB versions.
