Yes to NAS, SCSI

Yes to NAS, SCSI

I`m a consultant with Actium, a systems integrator based in Conshohocken, PA. I picked up your magazine at a client site and have found it to be very worthwhile. I wasn`t particularly aware of network-attached storage prior to reading your publication ["Users Embrace NAS Benefits," April cover story], but I am a firm supporter of the concept. I tend to specialize in databases, and the benefits of NAS for fault tolerance and hot backups is considerable (mostly in the Unix environment since NT doesn`t deal well with network file systems and databases ).

Also, I agree with your point about SCSI ["Long Live SCSI!" April editorial]. Since the bus is still faster than the disks it supports, I would think good engineering could keep SCSI a player for some time yet, even in the storage area network world.
