Artecon enhances SuperFlex arrays

Artecon, which acquired Storage Dimensions earlier this year, recently enhanced its flagship SuperFlex 3000 DGR Ultra RAID arrays with a number of new features, including:

- 32MB of read/write cache, expandable to 128MB

- RAIDscape enterprise storage management software for remote configuration, maintenance and monitoring.

- Support for the SCSI Accessed Fault Tolerant Enclosure (SAF-TE) spec, which allows status poling of array components and administrator alerts.

- 10,000rpm drives, which deliver a 16% to 37% performance improvement over 7,200rpm drives.

The SuperFlex arrays are compatible with Windows NT and NetWare. An entry-level array with three 4.3GB Fast/Wide 7,200rpm drives is priced at $9,272. A configuration with seven 9.1GB Fast/Wide 10,000rpm drives is priced at $21,912. www.artecon.com.
