STK software works with OpenView, Unicenter

Storage Technology recently began shipping its TimberWolf Tape Library Monitor software, which allows administrators to monitor STK libraries in a network/systems management framework. The company also announced that its 7430 and 97XX libraries have been certified with Hewlett-Packard`s OpenView and Computer Associates` Unicenter TNG for centralized library management.

The software allows users to monitor basic configuration and status of the libraries from a single console. TimberWolf Tape Library Monitor is compatible with Unix and Windows NT and is priced at $2,000 for the initial monitor and $1,000 for each server with connected libraries.

STK also announced availability of the 9740 DLT library cartridge exchange mechanism (CEM), which allows users to link as many as six 9740 libraries and to intermix tape technologies among the libraries. CEM is supported through STK`s Automated Cartridge Systems Library Software (ACSLS) version 5.3 or higher.
