Sepaton has secured $15.5 million in series F financing. The company claims more than 1,300 customers and 100PB under management.

Solid-state storage vendor Fusion-io has closed $47.5 million in Series B funding from a group of investors led by global venture capital firm Lightspeed Venture Partners. The company also announced that David Bradford has been named CEO.

Nirvanix announced that its CloudNAS software has been certified to work with Ocarina Networks' ECOsystem capacity optimization technology to deliver up to a 10:1 reduction in the size of files.

Online backup provider AmeriVault and NTG, a hosting services and data protection provider, have combined to form a new company called Venyu, which will provide data protection, availability and recovery services. The parent company is PHNS.

Asigra and CoreVault are partnering to bring cloud backup and recovery services based on Asigra's Cloud Backup platform. CoreVault allows users to store copies of backup data both onsite and offsite in its two facilities for disaster recovery.

PMC-Sierra's SRC 8x6G 6Gbps SAS RAID-on-Chip (RoC) and SXP 36x6GSec 6Gbps SAS expanders are shipping across HP's new line of ProLiant G6 servers. The companies claim a 150%+ increase in RAID-5 write performance, and a 350%+ increase in RAID-0 read performance, compared to previous-generation ProLiant G5 controllers.

PLX Technology and solid-state storage specialist Fusion-io have entered into a partnership under which Fusion-io is using PLX ExpressLane Gen 2 PCIe switches in its ioDrive Duo SSD product. Fusion-io also plans to use PLX's PCIe switches in its server-attached, network-shared products. A single ioDrive Duo can sustain up to 1.5GBps of raw throughput in each direction, giving the ioDrive Duo 3X the bandwidth of SATA 3 by attaching directly to PCIe using an integrated PLX switch.
