EMC beefs up e-mail compliance for SourceOne

By Kevin Komiega

-- EMC has announced SourceOne Email Supervisor, a software tool for monitoring inbound and outbound communications for compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.

The newest member of the EMC SourceOne family of archiving, compliance and e-discovery products, SourceOne Email Supervisor keeps tabs on inbound and outbound e-mail and instant messages. The software allows users to sample indexed messages from an e-mail archive, present them for review and save evidence of review actions.

EMC claims that, at a price of $30 per monitored user, SourceOne Email Supervisor provides a cost-effective approach to monitoring archived e-mail for compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

SourceOne Email Supervisor works in conjunction with EMC SourceOne Email Management to define and customize internal business policies and provide proof of compliance with National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) regulatory obligations.

EMC unveiled the SourceOne family last April when the company overhauled and replaced its EmailXtender archiving suite in favor of three products: SourceOne Email Management, SourceOne Discovery Manager and SourceOne Discovery Collector.

SourceOne Email Management archives e-mail from Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes/Domino as well as SMTP and instant messages; Discovery Manager provides discovery search and collection for e-mail archived by the Email Management software; and Discovery Collector serves as an indexing appliance that automates the identification, collection, preservation, and policy management of unstructured content.
