Brocade, EMC, HP, IBM, LSI, Seagate and Thales have jointly developed a standard for encryption key management, called the Key Management Interoperability Protocol, and submitted the specification to the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS).

The LeftHand SAS Starter SAN includes replication, thin provisioning, and snapshot capabilities, and can scale to more than 80 network ports and 320 disk drives. The SAS Starter SAN and a higher-capacity SATA version are available now through resellers. Pricing starts at $35,000 for a 4.8TB SAS Starter SAN and $30,000 for a 12TB SATA Starter SAN.
Hawaii Pacific Health (HPH) has standardardized on Bycast’s StorageGRID software to store and protect images in its medical image storage system. StorageGRID virtualization software was used to create a multi-tier storage hierarchy. HPH also deployed Bycast’s High Availability Gateway Cluster at five of its facilities.
DataCore Software announced that its SANmelody and SANsymphony storage virtualization software products are now VMware Ready Certified.
LaserVault Backup has completed the certification process for use with Data Domain’s Restorer in-process data de-duplication systems. LaserVault Backup is a disk-to-disk backup system that runs on a System I (AS/400) host and a Windows PC server to replace tape backup. It uses IBM’s backup commands, modified to send the backups over TCP/IP.
