Microsoft has introduced a new update that puts the “Connected Accounts” option in the position of the previous “Add a Place” option available in the Open menu. Moreover, the update’s primary function remains the same and is currently only available to MS Office Insiders testers. Microsoft’s option to add, as well as remove, any cloud storage account is not new, however, the interface now resembles the MS office app on smartphones.

MS Office used to work well with a cloud storage service installed on your system, however, the new cloud storage updates for Mac might be an improvement for some users.

When accessing MS Office on your Mac, there is a “Add a Place” option on the top of the initial window screen that lets users connect their OneDrive, as well as SharePoint accounts.

This feature helps access your documents stored online and removes the requirement for downloading extra cloud sync options on the PC or laptop.

The changes are not yet rolled out and will be introduced sometime this year.

Microsoft is waiting to remove and fix all the technical bugs, plus is ensuring the interface is easy to use before sending it out for Mac MS Office users. Currently, there is no major announcement of when the Windows MS Office version will also obtain this update. (c)
