The latest update of WhatsApp allows each user to create a group double the size of the earlier versions.

In what is regarded as the biggest WhatsApp update of 2022, users can now add and join with 512 participants in a group. Each group earlier consisted of 256 members. 

Another prominent upgrade of WhatsApp groups is that people can directly transfer files up to 2GB. It is a sizable upgrade from the previous group chat limit of 100MB. 

The upgraded version update was rolled out in stages and is now available worldwide for download from the Play Store and App Store.

WhatsApp brought the Group Chat feature in February 2011. The group chat feature has seen multiple upgrades and changes since then. The official account of WhatsApp tweeted on 8th May that users would be able to add more people to the group and send larger files in the WhatsApp groups. 

Earlier up for grabs on the beta versions, these features were made available for all the Android, iOS, and web WhatsApp users in June 2022. 

The latest for WhatsApp Business accounts is the information feature about the sender. The name of the sender device will be visible for every sent message. 

The previous latest major update included the feature of reacting to individual messages with emojis, a new voice calling UI, fresh voice note features, and many more.

The Latest Update On WhatsApp’s 512 Members Policy.

It was on people’s requests and suggestions that WhatsApp decided to enable users to add twofold members to the group to 512 members from the previous 256 members.

According to an official WhatsApp announcement in May 2022, increasing the group chat limit was one of the topmost suggestions and demands from users worldwide on WhatsApp. The gradual circulation of the update started in May itself.

The latest update of WhatsApp on Android phones contains versions 2.22.12.80, 2.22.12.81 web release, etc.

This recent version was made accessible on 13th June 2022 for most Android users. The recent version for iOS, as listed on the App Store page, is version 22.12.73. 

One can check this update by simply clicking on the new group dropdown. If users can add 0/512 or 1/512 after adding a participant, they are using the latest app version. The same can be found on the web WhatsApp. 

If the users check the number, then WhatsApp will roll it out within a few days.

Future WhatsApp Updates?

The WhatsAppiOS beta version allows users to identify if the do-not-disturb mode is on. The new feature will show the users that they have missed a call because of the activated do not disturb mode. This feature will be available to everyone using the iOS 15 version. 

The latest WhatsApp Android beta version features include a new location sticker for the latest android update and a new search filter for separating unread chats. 

Further ongoing developments for WhatsApp include enabling users to check the recent status updates from the chat list and exporting the Google Drive backups.
